Alternate Dispute Resolutions
Social Early Neutral EvaluationsSocial Early Neutral Evaluations (SENE) are similar to mediation in that it is a form of alternative dispute resolution that is voluntary and non-binding.
The SENE is used exclusively to deal with the custody, parenting time (visitation) and child support issues in a case to obtain a solution that focuses on the best interest of the children’s needs. Usually, the SENE will involve both parties, attorneys, and two court-appointed custody evaluators. During the session, each party (and his or her attorney) is given the opportunity to explain what they would like for a custody and parenting time arrangement, and why. Questions from the evaluators are asked and answered. In the event that the evaluation session does not result in an agreement between the parties, the case proceeds to a custody evaluation followed by a trial.
