Mary B. Rannells Rowan

Mary B. Rannells Rowan has been practicing in all areas of family law since 1997, including divorce, paternity, custody and parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, domestic abuse, adoptions, antenuptial and post-nuptial agreements, grandparent and other third party rights, and even drafting basic wills for clients post-divorce.

She is a lifetime resident of Dakota County and has served as a volunteer mentor for the Apple Valley High School Mock Trial Organization. She is a 1996 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. She received her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Minnesota in 1993. Admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 1996, Ms. Rannells Rowan is also licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. She is also certified to the Supreme Court of Minnesota and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Her professional affiliations include the Minnesota Bar Association, the First District Bar Association, and the Dakota County Bar Association. She is also a volunteer for Legal Assistance of Dakota County and a member of the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce.

Mary’s approach to cases is to first look for a mechanism by which to resolve the matter short of litigation. She believes this is an advantage for everyone involved, especially the children, in many ways. However, when necessary, she is prepared to advocate for her clients’ rights using all means possible under the law. She is kept busy outside the office and courtroom with her five children, and enjoys any quiet time she can find with her husband and the occasional good book. She knows first-hand the trials but benefits of co-parenting and blended families, as four of her children are from her first marriage.
